My hiatus from this blog is long overdue. Earlier this week I asked myself and my students to record as many things that they were thankful for in 3 minutes. I was blown away by one child in particular. He has many reasons to have a negative attitude and I was worried that this simple activity might cause him to shut down...instead, he wrote furiously and excitedly. He wrote so much that he ran out of paper and asked for more so he could keep going. He then penned an eloquent letter compiling his jotted thoughts with such an awesome attitude of gratitude that I teared up and tried to hide it in class. This week is a perfect time to revive this blog and that simple activity reminded me of just how many privileges I take advantage of. I'm thankful for genuine love, sincerity, little girl cousins' infectious giggles, paper plane construction with adult family, a classroom full of empathetic kids, & the privilege of having always known consistent love. What are you thankful for today?
